Ben Caldwell and Aimee Zakrewski Clark met in 2001 at Alliant International University. As friends and colleagues, they found their styles of counseling to be complementary. As practicum students, they were cotherapists for over of 100 hours of group therapy with the Domestic Violence population. They continued to work together on various projects, from fundraisers to playing music. They remained friends as Aimee went on to pursue a doctorate in Holistic Counseling, building up her private practice, and Ben went on to complete his doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy.
In 2010 they began to discuss the need for a place where Marriage & Family Therapist interns can come to learn the ins and outs of building up a clientele, preparing to have successful practices once they are licensed; a place where everyone is giving back to the communities we serve, through reduced-fee counseling services, high quality training and supervision, and innovative research projects. In 2011, they moved forward, applying for 501(c)(3) status in April, which became finalized in August.
In September, they began the recruitment of their "dream team" MFT Interns and since then have recruited a diverse group of counselors. Together, our staff focuses on bringing affordable, high quality therapy to the public, as well as implementing plans to give back to the underprivileged population in the Greater San Diego and Los Angeles areas.
